The game's protagonist, Yuzuki, voiced by Rie Kugimiya, is a girl from Japan who is transported to the world of Shinga. There, she meets armies of the Sengoku period, all of whom are members of the Gekka Tribe, including vampires, werewolves, and oni. Yuzuki's blood can trigger 'Awakenings' in these beings, allowing them to unleash their latent racial powers and greatly increase their strength in battle. She is tasked by a mysterious Himemiko—a woman whose blood possessed the same qualities—to unite Shinga in hopes of returning to her original world. The Toyotomi Army, led by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (voiced by Natsuki Hanae), consists of vampires. Hideyoshi, a former peasant who rose under Nobunaga before separating, views Nobunaga as an archenemy. He is playful and light-hearted on the surface but possesses a crafty and ruthless side, and he affectionately calls Yuzuki his 'bride.' His commanders include the level-headed Ishida Mitsunari, the calm strategist Kuroda Kanbee, the reckless Takenaka Hanbee, and the cheerful fighter Maeda Toshiie. The Oda Army, also vampires, is led by Oda Nobunaga (voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa), known as 'The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven' for his ruthless demeanor. His commanders include the gentlemanly Akechi Mitsuhide, the young Mori Ranmaru, the emotional fighter Shibata Katsuie, and the sharp-tongued Niwa Nagahide.
